Footage #7

This clip is shot from the carpark opposite the harbour from the pavement for an alternative perspective from previous clips shot from the hill. This includes the harbour, Verity, and the chapel on the hill. This closer crop means that part of the harbour wall on the left of the frame is cut off.

This shot is similar to the one above, but is composed differently in order to include more of the harbour area. Again, some cropping has occurred on the right of the frame, and it is a bit wonky.

This shot includes more of the harbour area. Due to the wall, some of the clips were cropped in camera to exclude the wall. This clip includes the wall as it was shot at a length of 18mm, and demonstrates my need to crop.

This shot is of a similar composition as the one before, but has been cropped in to eliminate the wall in the foreground. It shows the harbour from the lifeboat ramp to Hirst's restaurant.

This shot excludes the lifeboat ramp and includes more of the pier. I like this shot except that the chapel on the hill is cut off in the middle.

This shot includes all of the chapel on the hill, but at the expense of a boat on the left, which is partially cut off. Again, the reason why some of the edges of frames are cut off is due to using a closer crop to eliminate the wall from the foreground of the shots.

This shot is zoomed in to show the harbour in more detail. It could do with having a more distanced crop to include more of the boats in the harbour and to include more buildings.

This shot of the harbour shows the boats and the surrounding buildings. I like this shot, however, one building is cut in half on the right of the frame.

Again, this shot shows the harbour beginning from the lifeboat ramp. The composition cuts off part of a boat up against the harbour wall on the left, and part of a shop on the right.

This clip shows the pier, including Verity. It could benefit from being zoomed out a little in order to show more of the wall on the left of the frame.

This shot is slightly more zoomed out than the previous shot and shows the harbour wall, and the pier completely. I am happy with this composition and with the use of lines from the pier.

This shot is cropped the pier to just show Verity and the boat. I don't like this shot very much due to the building work on the pier (there are a few white vans in the foreground of the pier, which shows building work more so than people visiting Verity). She is central to the frame but this cuts off the cab of a lorry.

This shot is closer cropped in to the harbour wall than previous shots and features some camera shake.

This shot of the pier has a slightly darker exposure and features all of the harbour wall. However, it does crop a boat that is docked on the other side of the wall, which is distracting me (far left of the frame).

This is the same shot as before but with a lighter exposure. As the clouds move off of the sun it gets too bright, but this can be altered in Premiere Pro.

This shot of the pier is from a different angle and shows more dimensions of the harbour area (e.g., the harbour wall is not flat-on to the camera and we can see what was behind it). I think I prefer this composition as it seems slightly more dynamic to me due to seeing the other side of the harbour wall.

This shot of the harbour was recorded from the new angle where I shot the above clip. It has not changed the composition of the subject from this new vantage point, and again, due to cropping the frame to eliminate the harbour wall in the foreground, there are some boats on the right that are not fully in the frame.

This shot is composed to show Verity at the end of the harbour in frame with the "elephant's head" headland. I like the man-made pier and contemporary Verity sharing a frame with a natural form as I like the two opposites sharing the same space. About the same amount of space on each side is filled with the respective subjects (either man-made or natural), with a small segment of the sea horizon bridging the in-between.

This is the same shot as above but it is overexposed.

This is a similar composition of the pier as previous clips but it is more cropped. It is slightly wonky and I think I prefer the more distanced clips of this composition.
